‘I did it’ and other single parents can, too

In the days leading to National Single Parent Day on March 21, ASPSF is releasing new videos of our recipients! Below, Tikima shares her goal to not just reach her career dream but help other single parents as well.

“Hi, my name is Tikima Simpkins. I’m set to graduate Fall of 24, so I’m super excited about that.

When I graduate, my plan is to, yes, get a better job, but one of my goals is to work alongside the Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, and just to give back and give other — just to let other single parents know, ‘Hey, I did it,’ and they can do it as well.

So this scholarship has helped me immensely. It’s helped alleviate the financial stressors that a lot of us single parents deal with, especially when we’re trying to go back to school.

I appreciate everything that you all have done, everything that you’re continuing to do because you guys know how — you know, that it’s — it’s needed as a single parent.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, and thank you for believing in me.”
